My First Ribbon Flight

Postby David Franklin » Fri May 16, 2014 2:22 am

I'm going to try my hand at these ribbon flights. Of course with my cargo fix needed, I'm seeing how I can keep flying the B748. I hope to get the funds to buy a good payware version of this plane. Will try to post pics as I go along.

Well I'm on my way to Birmingham (EGBB) now on Leg 2 of the "Theme Park" ribbon. Should know in about 8 hours how well I can stick this bird there. Kinda should be ok since on the charts the 380 taxi maps. Well last week I caught Charlie flying east also while I was on my way to Orlando KMCO. Don't usually see two of us DFW guys in the same frame.

Plane pics to come soon. Found some nice freeware Orlando scenery on flightsim.com.

David,
I tried to connect via Team Speak during our flight but my mic didn't work. I was on my way to KBOS and CYYR.
I wish we could get the FS-Host Server to work with our Prep System.

This is what happens when you only get 1 day a week to fly. Still on the Theme Park Ribbon. Just left Osaka, Japan (RJBB) on my way to Auckland! Wow. Last time I was in NZ I think was for my RTW #2 flight. Went to NZCH for that. Doubt anyone will be awake for me on landing, oh well.

Here's the unofficial video folks. I'll go back and compose a video of all stuff from the ribbon. First virtual landing of a B748 at KSAN??? It may still be processing if you can't see it.

Thanks Roger! Of all my landings, I was actually sweating this one the most.

Finally getting around to posting screenshots of my ribbon flight. This before Joe painted the 748 for Noble so I used to POSKY one. The Ribbon was the Theme Park World Tour. I could help but fly my new favorite bird, Boeing 747-8. Awesome bird and I see them almost daily here at IAH due to Cathay Pacific, Cargolux, and now Ethad Cargo.

Though my HUB is DFW the ribbon started in SFO so I flew some cargo over to start there. 1st stop was Walt Disney World. After splurging there, off to Alton Towers in Orlando. Why not Disney???
Leaving SFO

Enroute to MCO, I flew gave home hub a high altitude flyover.

On final into Orlando and passing over Orlando Executive.

Used the whole runway since no one was behind me.
Image

After the towers it was off to Rantanga Junction located in Staffordshire, England. I couldn't take it there, so I landed at EGBB instead.
Leaving the US for a LONG flight.

Not so clear approach coming up.

From London it was down south! To Cape Town, South Africa to see Universial Kingdom.

Coming into Cape Town. Awesome graphics for the airport, but the ILS was off from the actual runway and made it for a not so pretty landing.

More pics to come as I go back over the vids.
